The 3 nominated parents were approved uncontested and without objection. SLT Election Parents nominating themselves to service on the SLT:

• Ana Mora (incumbent)
• Yessenia Murillo (incumbent)
  • Also to serve as Title I Parent Advisory Council Chairperson
• Courtney Knights
• Rafael Landeiro

The 4 nominated parents were approved uncontested and without objection. Open Forum / Questions

• Ana Mora shared her candidacy at the start of the meeting, but had to leave the meeting early due to a family emergency. She was not present for the actual vote, and there was no objection to her candidacy.
• Tamica Hutchinson shared interest in running for a PA board position at a prior meeting, but was unable to attend this meeting and share her candidacy. Members agreed to a special election in September to allow Tamica, and other parents, to run for additional positions on the PA board.
• Although Keri Landeiro did not run for an SLT position, she will serve on the SLT as a required member, as the elected PA Board President.

Notes: Staff Appreciation Lunch Recap

• School staff appreciated all the food contributions and donations provided.
• It was a large turnout with staff taking food home at the end.
• Thank you to all the parents who helped support.

Title 1 Funding

• Funding allowed for computer literacy and conversational English classes.
• Childcare will be provided for parents of PS153
• Extended family of PS153 parents can attend as well

Goal

• PA has a goal to raise $500 in Q2 with the Family Movie Night, Raffles, and other programming

Family Movie Night:

• Credit cards will be accepted for admission and concession purchases
• Volunteers are needed to help with tickets and concessions
  • Volunteers should arrive by 4:30pm
  • Leslie shared interesting in helping with her husband Will
• Tickets will be $10 for the whole family

Raffle

• The PA to raffle 3 electronics devices
  • 2 laptops and 1 tablet
• Promotional flyers advertising the raffle will go out on Kinvo, including photos of the devices.

Cap and Gown

• The PA plans to buy instead of renting the outfits
• PA considering fundraising raffle for 5th graders to help pay for the costs

Family Photo

• 2 dates are being considered in Mid-may: 5/13 vs 5/20, on a Saturday at the school
• PA selected ABC photo as the vendor

Graduation photos

• PA investigating opportunity for graduation photos during the grade ceremony
• Can be option for fundraising by charging for photos
• POST MEETING NOTES: Plan was not approved due to staffing and security concerns

Scholastic Book Fair

• Invited to the school for a fundraiser
• Each child to be given an online wallet to buy books
• Kids can collect money from multiple sources
• Planned towards end of April
• Open for all grades

• Proposed: A fundraiser similar to class photos but for families where the PA gets % of profit as a donation.
• Rafael to follow up on companies and share recommendations

Family movie night

• Movie selected: Wakanda Forever
• Date time: March 17th 5pm
• A permit will be needed for an after hours event at the school
  • Ms Matos to help with permit
• $10 ticket per family
• Concession stand is OK with $1 popcorn and drinks
• PA to circulate list of positions for volunteers

Staff appreciation lunch

• Friday 2/17
• Bring things by 10:30am
• First lunch: 10:45am
• Sarah got foods from local restaurants and chafing dishes
• Parents can drop off items early when bringing kids over
• Other parent bringing juice
• Rafael bringing cups, plates, utensils
• PA ordering additional food
• Another parent bringing cake
• Courtney can bring dessert
• Flyers went out Monday morning, teachers excited
• Cannot be home cooked food
• Mariana bringing cookies

Pizza party

• End of year, after state tests
• PA asking for ideas on early education

In person PA meeting

• Auditorium is not available
• Best to use community room with personal laptop
• Decided to keep the meeting on zoom through the spring and reevaluate changes afterwards.
• The Zoom ID and invite is the same and does not change every month

After school

• School partnered with Boys and Girls club in addition to Harlem Dawling for after school care for K-5
• After school registration opens in the end of September

Next steps

• Ms Matos to help with getting a movie night permit.
• Rafael to share recommendations on family photo vendor
• PA to share sign-up list for movie night volunteer shifts
